Kneedler Child Development Center opened on the campus of Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵapp on January 28, 2002. The center is named in honor of Mary Kneedler, a passionate advocate for high-quality care and education for young children.

During the 1960s, Mrs. Kneedler served as a Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵapp faculty member and played a significant role in the development of the national Head Start program, leaving a lasting impact on early childhood education.

The center is designed to accommodate up to 70 children in a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment. A secure, fenced outdoor playground provides daily opportunities for fresh air, active play, and the development of healthy physical habits.

At Kneedler Child Development Center, children are cared for by a warm, dedicated team of early childhood professionals who value strong relationships and individualized attention. Each classroom is led by teachers with either a two-year or four-year degree, ensuring knowledgeable and consistent care.

The Center Supervisor holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field and Administrative Level III credentials, providing experienced and supportive leadership. Teachers in the 1–3-year-old classrooms hold associate degrees, while teachers in the preschool classrooms hold bachelor’s degrees. Together, our staff create a nurturing environment where children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.

Children at Kneedler Child Development Center enjoy nutritious breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack each day, provided by Mountain Projects Foodservice. All meals meet or exceed the guidelines of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Head Start Performance Standards, and the North Carolina Division of Child Care.

Menus are thoughtfully planned and approved by a contracted Registered Dietitian to support healthy growth, development, and lifelong good eating habits. The center works closely with families to accommodate food allergies, medical needs, and special dietary requirements whenever possible, helping ensure that every child can enjoy meals safely and comfortably.
