School of Stage and Screen Admissions

Welcome to the School of Stage and Screen at 泫圖弝けapp! Admission to our programs is competitive and requires both a university application and a program-specific audition or interview.

General Admission Requirements

All applicants must complete the standard undergraduate application to Western Carolina University.
In addition, each program within the School of Stage and Screen requires a live or remote audition/interview.
Admission to the university does not guarantee admission to the School of Stage and Screen.
Auditions are first come, first served we strongly recommend auditioning early in the academic year.

Audition Dates for Fall 2025 Admission

Live at WCU: Saturday, November 8, 2025
Live Zoom: Saturday, January 24, 2026
Live at WCU: Saturday, February 28, 2026

儭 If a live audition is canceled due to weather or health concerns, it will be moved to Zoom. Notifications will be sent via getaccepted.com/wcu.

You must audition by the last posted date in Spring 2026 for full consideration.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. We only accept students through our on-campus or remote auditions.

We offer remote Zoom auditions. However, we encourage attending in person to explore the campus.

No. All auditioning freshmen are automatically considered if they have completed their scholarship application through WCU. Students must apply annually by February 1.

No. Any clear photo is acceptable.

Youll receive a reminder email the Monday before your audition with your schedule.

Yes. One for WCU and one for the School of Stage and Screen. You may apply to Stage and Screen before being accepted to WCU.

Audition and interview requirements vary slightly by program. Please review the guidelines below:

    • BFA in Musical Theatre: Prepare two contrasting musical theatre songs and one monologue (6090 seconds). Bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided.
    • BFA in Acting for Stage and Screen: Prepare two contrasting monologues (each 6090 seconds). No singing is required for this program.
    • BFA in Film and Television Production: No performance audition is required. Instead, prepare a portfolio or reel showcasing your work, this should be included in your application (e.g., short films, scripts, storyboards). Be ready to discuss your creative process during the interview.
    • BFA in Entertainment Design and Technology: Submit a portfolio that may include drawings, sketches, photos of productions, lighting/sound plots, or any creative work that demonstrates your technical and artistic skills. This should be included in your application.
    • BA in Stage and Screen: Prepare one monologue, optional (6090 seconds). If you have creative work (writing, design, performance, etc.), you will submit that with your application. Be ready to discuss your creative process during the interview.

Rehearsal attire that allows movement. Jazz shoes/booties are recommended. No sandals or tennis shoes.

Any creative work: sketches, photos, props, lighting plots, writing, etc.
