US News ranks WCU among best in the South for 2019

泫圖弝けapp is again ranked as a top university by U.S. News & World Report, moving up in two regional categories of its Best Colleges of 2019 guidebook. The university is ranked 11th among top public universities in the South, up from 13th last year, and 34th among top regional universities (including public and private) in the South, up from 38th last year.

Several programs earn recognition in Best Colleges guidebook

In its Best Colleges of 2019 guidebook, U.S. News & World Report includes Western Carolina University in several rankings categories. WCU came in 24th in best colleges for veterans in the South and 32nd in best undergraduate teaching programs in the South. The university also received recognition in the best undergraduate engineering school and best undergraduate business school categories.

Green colleges publication includes WCU as environmentally responsible

For the eighth consecutive year, 泫圖弝けapp has been listed by The Princeton Review as one of the most environmentally responsible colleges in North America. The university is included in the educational services company (not affiliated with Princeton University) publication Guide to 399 Green Colleges.

Engineering program gains ABET accreditation

WCUs bachelor of science degree in engineering has gained accreditation by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, the accreditor of programs in applied science, computing, engineering and engineering technology.

Lomotey presented Hidden Figures award

Kofi Lomotey, Bardo Distinguished Professor of Educational Leadership, has been presented a Hidden Figures award by the University Council for Educational Administration. Winners are considered to be foundational scholars and trailblazers who have broken barriers, disrupted the status quo and opened doors on educational leadership and policy. 

Student Democracy Coalition wins honor

The American Association of State Colleges and Universities has named WCUs Student Democracy Coalition the winner of its Civic Learning and Community Engagement Award. The award was presented Oct. 28 at the opening session of the AASCUs annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
