Faculty Scholarship Celebration

The Faculty Scholarship Celebration, part of WCU’s campus-wide Research and Scholarship Conference, highlights faculty accomplishments as they relate to research. The event hosts a Faculty 3MR Competition and celebrates the recipients of the Million Dollar Circle Awards, the Hunter Scholar Award, and the Provost's Scholarship Development Awards. 

3MR, Faculty Celebration & Luncheon

Join us in celebrating excellence in research, mentorship, and support during the annual Faculty Scholarship Celebration. The fifth annual 3MR will take place at 11am in the A.K. Hinds University Center, followed by a reservation-only luncheon, and celebration program. The program highlights outstanding faculty and staff achievements through the following presentations and awards:

Faculty share their research in just three minutes using one slide - three cash awards are presented.

Modeled after the 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition faculty will be celebrating the exciting and innovative research, scholarship, and creative activity taking place here at WCU in only 3 minutes! The competition will be held live and in-person in the A.K. Hinds University Center on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. Cash prizes will be awarded to faculty winners.

The competition is open to any faculty member from across any discipline. Faculty register using the following link: 

Named in honor of the late Dr. Curtis Wood, Professor Emeritus in the Department of History, College of Arts & Sciences, this award recognizes exceptional graduate student mentorship.

Supported by Chancellor Brown and Provost Starnes, these awards provide up to $15,000 for selected projects funded through indirect cost receipts.

Established in 2016, the Million Dollar Circle Award recognizes faculty and staff who have received a cumulative total of one million dollars or more in external grants and contracts while at WCU. To date we have twenty-six faculty and staff who have earned this prestigious honor.
