Pride of the Mountains Marching Band
The WCU marching band was founded in 1938 with just 23 students. Today the award-winning Pride of the Mountains marching band has grown to almost 500 members, one of the largest in the United States. This "world鈥檚 largest funk-rock band" is widely regarded as one of the top marching bands in the Southeast for its elaborate field shows, with a crowd-pleasing medley of up-tempo pop tunes, electric guitars, singers and more.

Our 23rd annual Tournament of Champions will be held on Saturday, October 17th, 2026.
Band Day
Calling all high school band students! We are hosting our third annual Band Day on a Saturday in the Fall of 2025! Students have the opportunity to warm up with Pride of the Mountains marching band as well as perform in the Pre-Game show!

Anyone wishing to join the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band should fill out the commitment form below. Incoming Freshmen do not need to wait until class registration. If you are a high school student who are interested, reach out and we'd love to discuss your future plans.
