**Fees listed below are required for all students in campus-based programs, regardless
of campus/course location. Individual fees cannot be waived, with the exception of
the Health Insurance Fee.
| Health Services | The Health Services Fee is one of the mandatory UNC System fees and supports the operating budgets of Health Services and Counseling and Psychological Services. These departments are located in the Bird Building and provide health and counseling services to students who pay the Health Services Fee. In addition, these departments may charge students for additional health care-related expenses, such as medical procedures, laboratory tests, and similar services. | $211.00 |
| Student Activities | The Student Activities Fee, one of the mandatory UNC System fees, provides financial support for a wide range of extracurricular programs and services for Western Carolina University students, including but not limited to Campus Activities, Campus Recreation and Wellness, Greek Student Engagement and Development, the Student Government Association, Student Affairs, and other select student-centered programs. The budgets for these areas include personnel, facility, and other operational costs. This fee also helps fund a variety of student activities and events, including concerts, lectures, exhibitions, selected student arts programs, and partial support for the WCU Pride of the Mountains Marching Band. | $361.00 |

| Athletics | The Athletics Fee, one of the mandatory UNC System fees, supports Western Carolina University's . | Athletic Facility Debt Service | This fee generates funding to retire indebtedness for the construction or improvement of various athletic facilities, including field houses, the Camp Building gymnasium, and other related athletic facilities. | $136.50 |
| University Center Debt Service | This fee generates funding to retire indebtedness for the construction of the A. K. Hinds University Center. | $12.00 |
| Records & Enrollment Management Fee | This fee is used to defray costs associated with electronic ordering, production, and delivery of transcripts, enrollment certifications, degree verifications, transfer credit evaluations, and other official enrollment-related documents for current students. Per-semester limits apply to official transcript requests. Students who cease enrollment have a four-month grace period, after which per-transcript charges apply. | $10.00 |
| Education and Technology | The Education and Technology Fee, one of the mandatory UNC System fees, funds specialized instructional supplies, equipment, and services for scientific and information technology needs that are not provided by state funds. | $272.00 |

| Health Insurance | Students attending UNC System institutions are required to have health insurance. Those students that are unable to document valid health insurance coverage are automatically enrolled in the UNC System's student health insurance program and charged the Value Plan premium.
