Biography

Originally from southwestern Virginia, Emily earned a B.A. in English with concentrations in Creative Writing and Literature from Virginia Tech, and an M.A. in English from the University of Louisville. Her interests in Appalachian Studies, Peace Studies, and American Studies, as well as composition pedagogy, inform her creative work, scholarship, and teaching.

Teaching Interests

Emily most often teaches first-year and second-year composition, and enjoys teaching writing to students across the university. She also enjoys teaching American literature and creative writing.
