Biography
Johanna Price, PhD, CCC-SLP is Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences
and Disorders at WCU and a speech-language pathologist, specializing in language and
literacy development and disorders of children and adolescents with a variety of backgrounds,
including those with neurodevelopmental disabilities, autism, and culturally diverse
backgrounds. Dr. Price partners with Cullowhee Valley School to support children's
language and literacy development at Literacy Camp. Her interests also include evidence-based
practice and interprofessional education to prepare professionals to support autistic
children. She is currently co-PI of Project ELEVATE (Empowering Leaders through Evidence,
Vision, and Autism Training for Excellence, OSEP, US Dept of Education, H325K250100)
and assists in administering the Interprofessional Certificate in Autism. https://affiliate.wcu.edu/autismwcu/<br><br>Dr.
Price has authored or co-authored over 30 publications and over 70 presentations at
the local, state, national, and international levels. Most of these publications and
presentations have included her students as co-authors.<br><br>Before coming to WCU,
Dr. Price completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Frank Porter Graham
Child Development Institute and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Research Center at
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also held faculty positions at
the Mississippi University for Women and Oklahoma State University.
