Biography
Paige Dagenhard, Ph.D., LRT/CTRS is a resident of Asheville, North Carolina. Paige
completed her Bachelor of Science in Recreational Therapy and a Master of Arts in
Recreation Administration from the University of Toledo. Paige completed her Ph.D.
in one of the nations top ranked programs in Health Education at the University of
Toledo. During her time at the University of Toledo, Paige had been heavily involved
with community outreach through running Therapeutic Recreation groups such as Therapeutic
Art, Tai-Chi, Yoga and Cardio Drumming. Paige also ran the National Youth Sports Program
for at risk youth in the Toledo community. Since being a faculty member at Western
Carolina University, she has continued her community outreach through adaptive sports
and adaptive recreational activities, including adaptive mountain biking. Paige has
been primarily focused on undergraduate research and the research of therapeutic modalities
used within the Recreational Therapy field, such as HeartMath and hooping.
Teaching Interests
To ensure excellent educational opportunities for the approximately 100 majors and
90 pre-majors in the undergraduate program. Also, to include several service learning
opportunities to students for preparation of internship and career endeavors.
Research Interests
Dr. Dagenhard-Trainers primary research interests include therapeutic modalities and
interventions in Recreational Therapy including HeartMath and undergraduate research
strategy.
