Biography

Melissa Faetz is the Elementary Education program coordinator and faculty member in the College of Education and Allied Professions at Ìð¹ÏÊÓÆµapp. Additionally, she serves as the WCU Director for the North Carolina New Teacher Support Program. She previously taught in Macon County for 12 years. She was the 2014 North Carolina Region 8 Teacher of the Year and a 2015 NC Hope Street Group Teacher Voice Fellow. She received her bachelor's degree and master's degree from Ìð¹ÏÊÓÆµapp and her doctoral degree from the University of Virginia.

Teaching Interests

Dr. Faetz's teaching interests include elementary social studies methods, elementary science methods, and elementary teacher preparation.

Research Interests

Dr. Faetz's research interests include asset-based pedagogies and preservice teachers and integrating science, STEM, and literacy in elementary classrooms.
