Biography

I completed my nursing degree in 2003 at Southwestern Community College. After working eight years as a med/surg telemetry nurse, I attended UNC Chapel Hill and obtained my Masters of Science in Nursing Administration in 2015. I worked as a Nurse Manager for 6 years in med/surg telemetry and acute inpatient rehab. In 2020 my interests turned to nursing education. I worked for one year as adjunct instructor at Southwestern Community College and 甜瓜视频app (WCU). Currently, I have the role of Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing at WCU. I am working on obtaining my Post-Masters Nurse Educator Certification.

Teaching Interests

My teaching experience is with traditional four year students in Foundations (lecture, lab, and clinical), and Concepts of Geriatric Nursing. I have also taught in the RN-BSN program with a focus on Professional Nursing Practice and Leadership. My teaching interests are in Leadership, as this is my area of expertise.

Research Interests

I currently have research interests in change management in nursing practice as well as in the educational setting. I am also interested in studying the importance of teaching empathy in regards to patient care as well as student and colleague support.
