Biography

Diane Martinez teaches graduate and undergraduate technical and professional writing courses. She is a U.S. Fulbright Scholar (2022-2023) who spent one year in Germany working on a project to strengthen ties and increase international experiences between WCU and Ludwigsburg University of Education in Ludwigsburg, Germany. She has experience working as a technical writer in engineering, and she teaches a variety of courses, including introduction to professional writing, proposal and grant writing, grammar, and environmental writing. She served as the Director of the Professional Writing Program from 2014-2019.

Teaching Interests

Diane specializes in technical and professional writing, courses that help undergraduate students transition from academic to workplace writing, most especially in the realm of interdisciplinary professional writing careers. Her graduate courses are designed to give students an in-depth study at historical and contemporary issues and theories in technical and professional writing.

Research Interests

Diane's research interests cover a range of topics including environmental and scientific communication, social justice and advocacy in technical and professional communication, linguistic justice, international education and communication, and teaching writing online.
