Biography

Eleanor Petrone directs the undergraduate TESOL program. Her classes focus on second language acquisition, language policies, and immigration and education. Her research centers on the intersections of education and immigration, and she is currently working on a qualitative study on the experiences of Mexican returnees in the era of deportation. Prior to working at Ìð¹ÏÊÓÆµapp, she taught high school social studies to recent immigrants in the New York City public schools and later was an ESL teacher and program coordinator in the North Carolina public schools.
