Biography
Dr. Dara Marshall is an assistant professor of accounting In the College of Business
Administration at Ìð¹ÏÊÓÆµapp. She earned her Ph.D. from Michigan
State University in 2012. Her research focuses on how governance and other organization
characteristics affect decisions on measurement and control. Dr. Marshall’s work examines
this focus within the realm of municipalities and public higher education institutions.
Through her teaching she aims to help students become better citizens through governmental
accounting literacy and understanding the structures of our governments. Dr. Marshall
is the current chair of the Accounting and Auditing Standards Committee for the American
Accounting Association’s Government and Nonprofit Section and has testified before
the Government Accounting Standards Board in her position. She is also an ad hoc reviewer
for the <i>Journal of Government and Nonprofit Accounting</i> and the <i>Journal of
Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management.</i> Before joining Western Carolina
University, Dr. Marshall taught at Texas A&M University - Central Texas in Killeen,
Texas and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.<br>
